She soon discovers a network of local businesses involved in the sexual exploitation of young women.

As she navigates grief, being hunted, and attempting to expose a human trafficking ring, Julia encounters help from unexpected people and discovers a God who is present through it all.

High tension from page one until the end. Even when Julia slows down to breathe and recover, author K.L. Ditmars has created frightening enough enemies that you feel them looming just off the page ready to overpower her.

There’s a lot to like about this book: vibrant settings, courage, human kindness. And an Irish Wolfhound named Aengus. There’s also truth: about the ongoing scourge of human trafficking in Canada and the United States.

There’s also a strong thread of faith. Charlie combats his residual PTSD through prayer, finding comfort that God is with him in the darkness. His words point Julia toward trusting God and finding the help and strength she needs. Nothing is preachy, just a natural outflow of their time together.

Best thing I’m taking from this novel: “All is in Your hands.” This is Charlie’s prayer, which Julia takes for her own. It’s a simple enough prayer that any of us can add it into our lives.

All That it Takes is a gripping read. It’s one of those novels where the characters and their struggle stayed with me when I wasn’t reading.

This is not the type of fiction I typically read but this book captured my attention from page one. I couldn’t put it down. The story was well written and flowed with good character progression. I was intrigued with Julie Bowen, Charlie and Lincoln and would happily read stories about them individually as they were interesting people in their own right. It was a subject I knew little about but now have a better understanding of human trafficking which is scary as it is a reality in the world. I am excited to read the next book in the series!!

The mystery/suspense genre can get a little predictable these days so it was a pleasant surprise to discover this new author and her interesting and fresh story angle. Not only does this book shine an important light on the issue of human trafficking, it does so with well developed, sympathetic characters who evolve and engage the reader further as the story unfolds. Overall, the book is both well written and a page turner that kept me hooked to the end. I’m now eagerly anticipating the next novel in the series!
